Smart card log-on for Windows Network
A user can securely log on to a Windows Network, using his Windows Log-on certificate, which is stored on his smartcard. Depending on the customer's needs, this certificate can also be used to register on websites or to sign e-mails.
Encrypting files
The Windows smartcard log-on solution is commonly combined with Windows file encrypting, via EFS (Encrypted File System). This enables users to encrypt files on their local system or on a network.
Smart card for building access management
If so desired it is possible to make the smartcard suitable for access to buildings or even for cashless payments. A contactless chip is implemented for this purpose. Examples of such RFID technology is a Mifare variant (classic, plus of desfire), Nedap and HID.
Verifying physical features of employers
A passport photo (or in some cases even biometric features) of an employee can be included on the smartcard to be able to verify physical characteristics too.
Smart card: Universally applicable
Such a multifunctional smartcard is universally applicable as an authentication tool, i.e. for building access, logging on to the network (or work station) and logging on to a web application.
